intensity minutes wrong

I have my Vivoactive 4S set up to track intensity minutes by Heart Rate Zones (3,4). When I look at specific activities and the time in HR zone chart under the charts menu. The times spent in zone 3 and 4 don't add up at all to what the "intensity minute" report generates (Intensity report is much lower and seems to have no relation to the time actually spent in the HR zones). This is based on the rowing app using an external heart rate monitor. No special HR zones for running or cycling configured. There is something just wrong. Also not sure that when setting vigorous to HR zone 4 whether that includes HR zone 5 (it should but it isn't clear). Not the issue here in this case.

  • Thanks for the post. Our support team will need to review this with you using activity examples from your Connect account. Please reach out to your local Garmin Support team so this can be investigated for you.

  • I just went through the support chat thing. Agent told me to do a "hard reset" and see if that changes anything.  As if  hard resets ever fix math problems. If I have a hunch this is most likely an issue with the software that calculates the intensity minutes doesn't pick up the external heart rate monitor (as it works with the wrist-based one).  The most annoying thing is that the support system has no way of tracking what I have already submitted, so it seems like I have to report all the details again.  This seems like a system designed to make customers go way rather than taking advantage of the data I provide to improve the system.
