Vivoactive 4 Powers OFF when starting an activity

My Garmin Vivoactive 4 powers off when i start an activity. Be it when i go for a walk or start one of the various activities in the gym. Sometimes i cannot restart the watch until i connect it to my charger.

I always charge it so it's above 90% typically its fully charged before i start an activity but this makes no difference.

Is there a fix for this as it only functions to tell the time now ?

Garmin assistance fix was suggest to buy the new watch... im very hungry for this. they do an bugged firmware and we need buy new watch. i will leave this brand if they dont coming out new unbugged 8.00 firmware

My Vivoactive 4 has recently started doing the same. Sounds like a software bug to me

My vivoactive 4 is doing the same thing. I have tried hard reset, but no luck. It seems to only be happening when the watch's battery drops to below 50%. Sometimes after it powers down (when pressing the start activity button) I have to wait a few minutes before I can turn it back on.

The cause of the problem i think it's the high request of energy from Watch to save data or use GPS or use Spo2. when there is high request, the battery is unable to supply enough energy and the voltage drops, causing the entire system to shut down

My work around is to turn off the vibration option when an activity starts. This seems to be the high power draw . GPS still works.

Thanks Tracy,

I took my watch in to local Garmin support. They said that it is most probably the battery and that I would have to buy a new one. Its such a pity because the watch works for 4 days on a single charge if I don't use activities, but when I initiate an activity it will power down either when I press the start button, or later in the session. Still I can turn it back on and the battery is at 80% and lasts 3 more days?

I've implemented all the workarounds I can find, but it seems that 3 years is the max service time for these vivoactive watches.
