Back again here with more Strength Training workout questions about the Vivoactive 4S software.
I've used a couple of custom strength workouts for several years, mostly with no issues. Today, I wanted to set up an arms/back/abs split free weight workout. Things did seem to work better as far as designing the workout went, and it appeared on my device the first try.
However, once I started the workout I was very disappointed. I used to see what the name of the exercise was, and I think sometimes the weight and rep count targets. (I think some of the time I've had to add these in as "comments" when designing the steps in the workouts but I don't remember for sure). TODAY, all I got on the watch was "Set 1" - no indication of what the exercise should be. The rep count worked pretty much the way it always had before. But, since I customarily relied on the Garmin to guide me through each set in my workout, I was basically working out blind.
I don't want to do that again. I'm puzzled about how Garmin envisions people doing strength workouts? It doesn't seem to make sense, to me, as a longtime lifter.
I DID note that there seem to be LOTS more exercise choices among the dropdown list now - even variations on bands, dumbbells, barbells -- which is welcome.
I guess in the short term I'll have to screenshot my workout plans, and make notes on them, and I'm not sure the VA4S is gonna be much use for these workouts.
