Issues with walking activities and touch in vivoactive 4

Hello,

Recently I've bought a vivoavtive 4.

I've used it since july and I'm pretty happy to have it, however in the recent days I have real issues with crashing and the touchscreen.

Since I bought it , it was updated to FW 7.80, connected it 2-3 times to my PC and it was never turned off. The lowest percentage on the battery i've ever got was ~4% but I've always charged it when it comes to 15%.

The watch firstly crashed when I started a walk activity with ~15% battery left. I expected to fall down to around 7-10% since i use it actively with GPS turned on, however this happened: When i start walking it crashed without me knowing it, then i've booted the watch and I've continued walking with ~13% battery left, then after another 20 minutes of walking, the watch died totally(it was supposed to have a little more energy left at least). I got only to the triangle with the sports and then turns off. I've plugged it in after I got home and booted it immediately.

Then it crashed another 2-3 times when I was doing walk activities.

The latest example from today is this, with ~50% battery started the activity and it crashed immediately. I've booted it and then started a new walking activity, it worked, passed 2 km of walking and right in the 3rd km for the 3rd autolap, it crashed. Booted it again and had 2,96km. I've resumed it, another crash in the same time, when it reports the 3rd lap at 3rd km. After booting, it became 2,94km and saved the activity right before the 3rd lap notification.  From this, i understand that the battery isn't stable to provide power for the vibration, but it vibrated normally when saving the activity, now when I start any walking activity, the watch crashes whatever the battery precentage is.

Another worrying issue is that some parts of the touchscreen arent working at all.  For example when I need to enter some data from a set in a Strength exercise, I cannot enter 6 or 9, all other numbers can be entered, but these two cant, the same happens for the quick access menu(the one when you press the upper button for longer).

Is there any way to repair this?

  • This series has short resistance in seawater and many people press the buttons underwater without knowing that it causes damage to the device. Your watch shows precisely the defects of infiltration and oxidation. You wrote that it's new, but usually these problems arise after a couple of years and lots of swimming in the sea.

  • Well it is strange, I've only used it in freshwater only when showering, for around 2 months, and nothing more, the water is not hot at all, because i know that it can cause damage to the whole watch.

Also the partially not working touch happened right after the first crash. I know that since I use the hydration app really often and i use the first cup most times. That region can't register anymore since the first crash. When I enter some numbers the near digits work, 5,7,8,0. but only 6 and 9 cannot be entered, since these regions can't register any touch.

Also that strange crashing only when I initiate walking activity, i think it might be system-wise.

  • And it is totally borked. After the last 1km of walking activities with 45% battery left, it is totally borked. It cannot boot anymore and i don't know if it's from the battery or from the system, however, i managed to boot in test mode and it states that it has 35% battery left.

I need some way to have this watch repaired.
