Don't buy vivoactive 4 series

Don't waste your time buying vivoactive 4 series! Though it works fine for a bit (less than a year) and you'll have the option to get a replacement from support (a refurbished version), the watch itself is extremely faulty. Troubleshooting guides are completely useless and support can only send you a refurbished watch (a messed up watch that was "fixed"). Make yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

I understand people would want a brand-new watch. But the refurbished watches are indistinguishable from a new watch. Maybe I've been extremely lucky, but I've had Garmin fitness devices since 2004 and have been a happy customer the whole time and customer support has been top notch.

Sorry you did not have the same experience.

  • Cosmetically indistinguishable yes. The faulty devices you returned since 2004 were offered and shipped out to others like me. I've been a Garmin watch user since 2014 and never had any issue till I got the vivoactive 4.

My watch shows the right time, cant be faulty at all. What faults you mean?

  • Have mine since December 2019. Still rocks like it's new. What kind of problems did you have so far?

Checked some recent posts b the OP and found this. HR monitor not working, motion sensor not working either. All settings are on. What am I doing wrong

Someone suggested to try a factory reset, but the OP of that thread has not responded yet.

  • I have to say I agree with you.  Mine has caused me only headaches since I bought it less than a year ago.  Charging it and keeping it charged are problems.  I put it on the charger for an hour and come back to find it hasn’t charged a bit.   You constantly have to ‘jiggle’ the connection until you see the charging screen show up.  If you are synced to an iPhone and get a text or Strava kudos you immediately are not charging any longer.   Super problematic.

  • Mine has started doing that after 2 yrs of casual use. Super annoying

  • I've had / have a few Garmin watches, and the GPS on the VA4s is by far the worst. The VA3 is still far more accurate. I've done a factory reset, but GPS is still all over the place. Takes a long time to find satellites, and then continually drops them. Can't use the watch for any activities which require GPS now, as it's so inaccurate. Really quite disappointed, as I don't understand why this watch would be so much worse than its predecessors.
