GPS Version has an exclamation mark 4.80(!)

Hello!

I've noticed recently that my Vívoactive 4 lists an exclamation mark next to the GPS SW version. What does this mean, and is there something I can or need to do to resolve it? I see "No updates available" when syncing either by connecting to my computer with Garmin Express or by looking for SW Updates on the watch near my WiFi network.

For reference, here are the other SW versions that are listed:

  • SW Version: 7.80
  • GPS Version: 4.80(!)
  • ANT/BLE/BT Version: 8.02
  • Wi-Fi Version: 2.60
  • TSC Version: 2.05
  • Sensor Version: 20.04
  • WHR Version: 5.00.05
  • Connect IQ: System 5
  • BMX: 5.0.5
  • Secondary BMW: 0.8.0
  • API Level: 3.3.6

Current CPE Info says "Current" too, if that's helpful.

Thanks a lot!

  • The exclamation mark probably means that the version is outdated. I'm on 7.90 and GPS version is 6.00.

  • I see, do you know if there is a way I can sideload or manually update the GPS version? I've had no luck with trying to update it through either the device itself or by connecting to my computer with Garmin Express. Thanks!

  • You can try reinstalling your current firmware or the 7.90 beta firmware. I'm thinking that it will also reinstall the GPS fw as well.

From what I remember you have to:

    - Connect the watch to CPU via cable

    - Unzip the firmware file ( GUPDATE.GCD file) into the \GARMIN folder on the watch.

    - Disconnect watch from cable, it should prompt the Update option on the watch. Approve and wait for install.

Even if you install an older firmware, you will later get prompted to update to the final public fw available.

There shouldn't be any risks, but I have to mention: Do this on your own risk.
