Rest Screen doesn't display important date

Swimming Intervals I absolutely need to know how much I entirely have swum up to this point/ or how many intervals I already have completed.

But after clicking on the lap button, the data-screen very soon changes into the rest screen where there is only poor data displayed. 

Data fields of activity screens can be edited but it seems as if there is no way to edit the rest screen, nor is it possible to keep the activity screen a little longer after pushing the lap-button. This short period very often is not sufficient for me to look onto my watch. And then there is no more way to see how many intervals I did, because the rest screen doesn't either show the entire distance nor the number of intervals and I get somehow lost.

I saw some ancient threads here about this issue and an employee from Garmin - Garmin-Kevin - was even first suggesting to edit the rest screen and afterwards noticing himself it is not possible to change it. He was then promising to do a feature request to Garmin. And since then - more than two years ago - nothing seems to happen.

Please Garmin - this seems to be such a basic feature. Couldn't you implement it ?

Or does someone else know a way to see other data while the rest screen is displayed?
