Hiit/interval

Is there a way to have an interval (using run)  included without having to manually input 100 steps?

Also, how can you get the watch to vibrate after each interval.

Really annoyed Garmin does not have Hiit on the Venu Sq....why do I need yard work or SUP? Slight smile

  • Exactly my thought and thoughts of most of Vivoactive users.

Nevertheless, Garmin stick blindly to their marketing policy to try to persuade users to buy more expensive watches by crippling software on other watches, which is the reason Vivoactive does not have HIIT, Hiking, etc. which are commonly used sport profiles by sport activists.

Users have made requests in that regard, no any movement on Garmin side.

  • Though I understand your disappointment, I wouldn't call it crippling their software, since the vivoactive never had HIIT from day one. Anybody can go online to do some research to determine if their most important features exist. If not, decide if it's so important to have the HIIT feature, buy a different model or different brand. Garmin is very transparent regarding the features available on each model. I wouldn't count on Garmin adding features later, but it has happened on rare occasions. You can request new features here - Share Ideas | Garmin

To find HIIT you can use this Garmin site to compare up to 4 watches - vivoactive 4 vs vivosmart vs forerunner vs Venu

You can also find which devices have HIIT using these Garmin sites:

This is where I found which Garmin watches have the HIIT activity profile. Most are more expensive than the vivoactive 4, but some, like the Forerunner 55, are not.

    • Venu 2
    • Venu Sq 2
    • vivosmart 5
    • Instinct 2/2S
    • Instinct Crossover
    • Forerunner 55
    • Forerunner 255
    • Forerunner 265
    • Forerunner 745
    • Forerunner 945

    • Forerunner 965
    • epix Gen 2
    • fenix 6
    • fenix 7
    • epix Gen 2

Outside of Garmin, I found some other sport watch manufacturers that feature HIIT, including Polar Vantage, Polar Ignite, FitBit Versa, Amazfit Band, and Suunto Core, Coros, Whoop, and Apple Watch series 3 or later.

  • There is simply no reason for a watch marketed for casual sport activitlsts not to have hiking or HIIT since those are often used activities, other than business model of Garmin to cripple software features on cheaper watches.

It does not matter that those sports were missing from Vivo at the beginning. They could have easily push it through the updates but chose not to. And yes, it is just software limitation, hardware supports it.

Some other brands use similar tactics, but on lesd common sports. Garmin uses this tactic heavily and with most common sports. No matter that users are unpleasantly surprised.

CiQ apps are not substitute for native apps.

  • Thanks for this Thumbsup  I basically did the same research. I started with a vivoactive 3 back in 2018. As running and HIIT training became more important to me, I upgraded to the Forerunner 55. Going on 1 year now with no complaints.

  • Not true I have venu sq and it also does not have hit….even the Garmin help person said it did until I politely asked her to check and she confirmed it does not…yawn

I never said it did. As I posted, it's the Venu SQ 2 that has HIIT. The original Venu SQ does not have HIIT...

  • Look CIQ store, there are apps that support hiit and many other sports. Used when I had V4. f.ex Any sport pro.
