Constant pace/cadence dropouts during treadmill sessions

My new VA4 is having the exact same problems my old one did, where during an hourlong treadmill session, the pace and cadence trackers drop out constantly, usually after about 20-25 minutes or so.  I end up getting shorted in my step count.  It should be around 9,200 to 9,300 in an hour, but it registers only about 8,600 to 8,700.  It's very annoying.  Is this a software problem or faulty hardware?

  • At the end of the treadmill run, my vivo4 asks me how many km I have covered.

You have to calibrate the distance and you will have the corresponding time.

If you want maximum precision, you must combine a foot pod, dynamic pod or a HRM PRO band

  • The overall distance logged is roughly accurate.  There is a clear software/hardware problem.  The watch did not used to do this.  It’s only all of a sudden.

  • I've tried walking on the treadmill without the foot pod, it actually doesn't detect walking (at 6 km/h). But if I go to see the section of the day's steps, he updates them.

    This is a bug

  • I was told by Garmin Support that the Vivoactive 4 does NOT support a footpod.

BTW: I've seen dropouts in the pace since I got the watch in early 2021.

  • you go to the menu > sensors > add sensor

and you will find the foot pod

Evidently someone who washes the toilets in the Garmin offices answered you. :D

my workouts always with garmin footpod combined
