My display is degrading as battery charge drops, when battery drops below 80% some screens are unreadable but everything is OK if I plug in a charger - what's up?

I have a Vioavtive 4 on software version 7.80, as the battery charge drops parts of the screen seem to become degraded sometimes to the point of unreadability. If I plug in a charger they are fine so it's not a screen issue, battery life seems OK(ish).

Anyone any ideas - is this a known bug?

As the device was still under warrantee it's now been returned.
