Can Vivoactive 4 be set up to accept input from a cadence sensort as speed in order to create/calculate distance in mode INDOOR CYCLING?

So far I use CARDIO to record my acitities on my KETTLER ergometer. Having (only) time and heart rate has been ok to far. I would now like to add distance by using INDOOR CYCLING; so I would have all bicycle kilometers (indoors and outdoors, i.e. others come from the EDGE) visible in Garmin Connect.

I can not attach a speed sensor to the ergometer. It has neither a wheel in the front nor in the rear. I could attach a cadence sensor to the pedal. However my question is if it is possible to take the cadence information to create speed (and by this distance) in the VA4? If yes - would Cadence Sensor 2 work?

Or could it also be an option to attach a speed sensor to the pedal pivot shaft? (Required large wheel diameter in VA4 to achieve proper speed calculation might be a problem?)

Thank you in  advance for your feedback!
