Display backlight stopped working

Got a Vivoactive 4 that I had since December 2020 without any issues, until about a month ago now. The backlight on the display does not work most of the time, and on rare occasions it does come to life but at very low brightness. I have tried changing the level of brightness in the system settings, but it doesn't matter what level I set the backlight to it just either stays dark or at very dim level even when set to 100%. The rest of the watch functions normally, and the battery doesn't drain quickly either.

I have tried factory reset several times but the result seems to be the same. Any ideas? The watch is running version 7.20 of the software.

  • So out of nowhere the display backlight restored all of its brightness and is functioning normally? I am able to control the brightness up and down in the settings without an issue. I do not really understand how it magically fixed itself, but will keep an eye on it.

  • Try this, watches is powered on, press and hold upper button for 45 sec wait 1.minute than power on watches

  • I have done that numerous times with no success. It seems that the longer the watch goes without being power cycled, the higher the chance display backlight will work. Did a factory reset, and nothing changed about the function of display backlight. Everything else works on the watch, it is just useless most of the time in the dark.

The brightness of display backlight did flicker in and out one time, not sure if it is a software issue, looks more like hardware related.
