Is the Garmin vivoactive4s meant to count steps as you walk? Mine adds them in chunks

Is the Garmin vivoactive 4s meant to count steps as you walk? Mine adds them in chunks! Not sure what is normal for this device following the last update

Mostly as you walk, but there is a filter when you start walking, so it will start off with a small chunk.

When you look at the step count on the watchface, then I believe it is updated only once a minute.

it counts the steps normally, but does not update them every second on the watchface, to conserve the battery, so it appears that it is in chunks. But it counts the steps, I tested it.

I guess that depends on the watchface. I don't have steps on my watchface, but the widget seems to update every second.

Before the 7.10 update mine showed each step as it happened. Since then--including the 7.20 update--it adds them in "chunks," as you say. However, I am not convinced that the total is correct. Mine seems to be adding more steps than I normally take.
