How to disable automatic system updates?

The update last week essentially rendered my watch unusable and I had to factory reset it and revert to firmware v6.90. Thankfully no more issues since, but my watch wants to update the system firmware automatically again, and I don't want to because I prefer a working watch. Is there any way to turn off automatic firmware updates? Wasn't able to find anything in the settings to do so.

Sucks to see you had the same issue with no fix. I deleted the update file in the phone so hopefully it won't auto-update tonight. Can't believe Garmin pushes updates that borderline brick watches with no option to turn off auto-updates. If they're gonna push updates that they don't even QA test, they should at least give people the option to turn off updates. My user experience shouldn't suffer because Garmin is too lazy or incompetent to do proper QA on their programming.
