Vivoactive 4s did not register sleep 7.10

My wife's Vivoactive 4s received the 7.10 update yesterday evening. The device did not register any sleep data for the night afterwards. (She wore it all day before)

Mine was ok with 6.90

  • It affects Venu too, so I guess it is quite a large number of failed devices.

  • I'm having the same issue since the 7.10 upload last week. Everything was working like a charm before then; now, the watch (which is new to me - only had it a few weeks) is almost useless & definitely unreliable/undependable. It just stops working & I have to jump thru hoops to get it to work again. Sometimes a simple power on/off works; but usually, it takes several different troubleshooting actions before it starts working again - like turning bluetooth on/off, uninstalling the device from the Connect app, sometimes just hitting "sync" numerous times over & over again). Worse, I don't even notice it's not working, sometimes for a few hours, so I completely miss recording activities, heart rate, etc. I see that Garmin has "pulled" this software, but so wish they'd let us revert to the prior version in the meantime.

You can manually downgrade the firmware, see my reply here.

Thanks to 7.10 has been pulled back, downgraded firmware won't be automatically updated back to 7.10

  • Thank you for providing your feedback after the update to 7.10.

Garmin is aware of an issue impacting vivoactive 4, 4S, and Venu watches. We have identified the issue and have released an update as a Public Beta. To update your watch walk through the following:

    1. Power your watch off and back on.
    2. Enroll in the Public Beta in Garmin Connect.
      1. Use FAQ: https://support.garmin.com/?faq=bVo5U5BV292BSr2gkZhY2A for instructions.
    3. Sync with Garmin Express.
      1. See FAQ https://support.garmin.com/?faq=IB1TjAKZso2F6mKr3hYqy9f or instructions to download and install Garmin Express

After you enroll and sync your watch, BETA software version 7.20 will be installed and you should no longer experience the issue of your watch no longer syncing, Connect IQ watch faces no longer displaying, or activities no longer saving.

We expect this software version to go to production in the next couple of days.

If you experience any new or reoccurring issues after installing the BETA 7.20 update please see, https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/vivoactive-4-series/305561/new-public-beta-for-vivoactive-4-4s---sw-7-20
