What is a usual life expectancy of Vivoactive watches?

Hi, I have the watch for 2.5 years, today the HR sensor stopped working - reset didn't help. I am afraid it's the end. I wonder what is a usual longevity of these watches as this seems to be very short life. I'd had Fitbit Charge 2 before and those are still functioning, my sister have been usig them after me and they are about 5 years old.

  • As an update, they replaced the watch with a refurished model since it seems to be a software issue. I appreciate the support since I love the watch aside from this issue.

  • I have a 3.5 that I bought for wireless music while running. That function only lasted about a month. It was touch and go for a while and I could sometimes get it back by messing with 10,000 settings and redownloading spotify but now doesn’t work, really disappointing.

otherwise functional but not for the reason I bought it.

  • To troubleshoot this report, you'll want to reach out to your local Garmin Support team.

  • My vivo 4 started to have battery problems after 3 years and a half. The support ask if i wanted to have a refurbished one for 150 euros (way too much for a 3 years watch) so i replaced the battery myself. Even with a new battery, the watch does not stay up more than half a day.

Either garmin does not want the vivoactive to stay alive for more than 3 years (you can see on the forum that there are A LOT of battery problems), or they forgot to test their software on the vivoactive series.

I am also afraid of buying a new one if it is that obvious that you have a pay a new watch every 3 years.

  • The reason you were asked for 150 Euros is because your watch was out of warranty, all of our watches are replaced with a recertified watch if they are are over 60 days old. We also do not replace just the batteries in our watches, the entire watch is replaced at this cost. As Garmin-Sierra mentioned in one of the previous replies, we do not have an official life expectancy of our devices. Please see this FAQ about devices that have a rechargeable battery: Life Expectancy for the Rechargeable Battery in My Fitness Device

  • Hello,

I have had my VA4 for 3.5 years without any issues.

    Hope this helps.

  • Have mine since December 2019.

    Still rocking like a hurricane.

  • My wife has my Vivoactive 4S from April 2020. No issues.
    I have a Forerunner 255 now.

  • How long should my new Forerunner 965 last in terms of years? I know it depends on usage, but a range would be good. Also, where do I send it for servicing?
