pause an activity longer than 15 min on venu?

I recently bought the Venu, and when I am cycling, I have tried to pause the activity and in 15 min, the watch autosaves. This is VERY annoying and wanted to know if there is anything I can do to change this? I have had many watches in the past that did not do this.

Garmin calls this feature (resuming rides) multisport, and the Vivo/Venu series do not support this. You need Fenix or Forerunner, I think.
Maybe some IQ activities will allow longer pause.

One workaround is to record several bike rides, and manually merge the files later. Lots of work, but I have done it for special rides.
