Vivoactive 4 screen display always on Battery draining 2%+ per hour

A few days ago I changed my watch face from the default to an analog option. For more than a year it has worked perfectly

After the clock face change my battery started draining more than 2% an hour.  My screen would never turn off and continuously showed the clock.

My Vivioactive 4 had been working prior to that.  After a short period of time my screen would go blank (off) until I moved my wrist.    Like turning it clockwise so I could look at it.   All was good.

I have Software Version 6.90, GPS Version 5.40, etc.

I used the reset feature and wiped the watch.  I had to go through the whole setup all over again to connect to my phone.

I did recently purchase a Edge 830 and try to link it to my watch so that I could get Hear Rate data sent to my Edge 830 during a bike ride.  I was unsuccessful getting the two to connect even though Garmin says the Vivioactive 4 will connect to the Edge 830.

I recharged the Vivioactive 4 to 100% after syncing to my iPhone. In less than an hour the screen has been on continuously to the default clock and dropped 1%.

  • UPDATE:

It is working now.  After 2 try's of syncing to the PC with Garmin Express . The first time Garmin Express ran through all the default connections.  It got to 99% charge with that different screen displayed and the screen froze. it was total unresponsive.  After 24 hours I held both buttons what seemed like minutes and it finally did a cold boot.  I synced my watch Garmin Express again.  It ran through all the defaults stuff again and started charging with that different clock face.  This time it did get to 100%.  I left everything at default at first.  I now have HR on all the time.  I have the default watch face on.  The backlight does come on when I turn my wrist.  The default clock is always on but dim. I have the O2 sensor only for night, and Bluetooth for sync is on.  It now last 3 to 4 days depending on how much outside GPS I use it.

I am guessing there was some bug in the 6.9 that did not update correctly over Wi-Fi.
