I recommend taking the watch off and cleaning the inside of the watch and strap every day when taking a shower. Otherwise there can be bacteria and old sweat building up that can irritate the skin.
Do you think the skin allergy on the hands is due to any other cause?
These things are usually hard to determine. Some people are allergic to silicone. Sometimes silicone combined with a particular skin care product (soap, shower gel, lotion) can cause iritation. Bacteria build-up due to increased sweating under the silicone strap can be another issue.
My experience is if I allow water to get under the band (like when washing my hands) then do not get it dry, I have issues with a rash under the band area. As long as I get it dry under there, I have no issues.
