Garmin pay - time out battery drain

Hi

I just got a new vivoactive 4 and is working as expected except for one thing.

I added a credit card to Garmin pay but when I type in pass code it does not time out ( even thoug there is a 60sec timer on the edge fo the watch). I am aware that it times out after 24 hours or when I remove it from my wrist but that is not good solution because the battery drain goes from 0.5% when pass code is not entered to 2% per hour when the pass code is entered as if it is waiting to be used (even when I am on my home screen, not in Garmin pay app).

I also understand that someone does not want to type in passcode all the time, but I use it rarely and I would rather save the battery. Is there an option to adjust this, and if there isn´t this is a suggestion to the developers that it would be a nice fix/feature.

  • I use Garmin Pay a lot (90+ percent of all my payments), and I have not noticed increased battery drain because of it. Definitely not anywhere close to 2 percent per hour.

  • Thank you for the reply. I don't know what could be teh reason for this. I even use default watch face. Strange anyways.

Even so, would be good to have a timeout option available to tirn off/on.

  • I've just recently found the same.  I have only just started using it for my commute and enter my passcode in the morning for inbound journey.  On the way home, the passcode is remembered and I just need to open the GarminPay widget.

But on days when I use this feature, the battery life is terrible.  I don't know if it's 2% per hour as I haven't monitored it that closely, but it does seem to be running in the background and eating battery.

Days when I don't use it, approx 12% per day so pretty convinced this is the cause.
