Battery discharge after 6.80

After receiving 6.80 this weekend I'm now getting 45% battery discharge overnight. Thanks Garmin!
I was getting 4-5 days before.
I wish there was a way to go back to the last update.
They are just ruining what was a good watch.

Guess I better get in the habit of charging it every morning. Thanks again.....

I just completed a simple 30 minute walk activity (no GPS) and battery went down 3%.

  • You can try restarting it after each update. Or give it some time(a few charges) to calibrate with this new fw.

  • same issue for me, before update i was getting 4-5 days too now only 1 day and half, how can we fix this issue?

  • Same problem here!

Would be great to get a fix

  • I have the same problem. It also happened after some other updates and the only thing that helped was a reset.

I don't understand why they are screwing things up with nearly every update. Its a pain in the ass to reset the watch every time an update broke something.

  • I'm in the same boat, only thing I've found that helps is using a watch face without background tasks. Such a pain as my favourite faces all have these tasks. Currently, I'm getting 2 days battery life when before the update I'd get 5+.

I've customised my watch too much to do a factory reset (custom activities, data fields, watch face settings etc) so I will just have live with it until Garmin release the next update.

Please Garmin can you address this, or at least acknowledge it.

    Thanks

  • Same problem here. I went from 50% to <10% in the matter of a morning with a run and walk activity.  Also once the watch powered off by itself and I have trouble turning it back on.

  • Same here. I have a 4 and my wife has 4s. After update we immediately saw 4-5 days battery life go down to 1 day. Wiped my Watch and reset to factory with (data loss), same problem. Turned off all the sensors (have Garmin watch faces installed only), backlight off and only noticed a "slight" improvement in battery drain. Still can't get past a day of use.

SW 6.80 is pure crap and wish I could go back a revision. If Garmin fixes this and I get my 4-5 days back I will disable the auto update of software if this is the best they can do with testing their software before release. Their SW developers obviously don't use their own products

  • All-

I’m sorry to hear of the battery drain issues that you’re experiencing.  Let’s start by power cycling (turning off and then back on) your watch.  If the battery drain persists and if you have any Connect IQ (CIQ) Content, especially watch faces, you may need to delete that content until the independent developer is able to update their app/watch face to function correctly (without causing a battery drain) with the new firmware version on your watch.  You can use any of the 3 FAQs below to uninstall the CIQ content.

How to Uninstall Connect IQ App Content Using the Connect IQ App

How to Uninstall Connect IQ Content Using Garmin Express

If you would like to submit feedback to the developer of the CIQ content, you can do so by clicking the link below and searching for the download page of the CIQ content.  In the bottom right corner of that page, you will find the option to contact the developer.
