The height measurement is not correct at all

Hello, I have a new Vivoactive 4s and unfortunately I have a problem with it: The GPS works, but the altitude measurement does not. Two days ago I went up a mountain (480m) and the watch showed me 580m - this wasn't the first time it measured it wrong! Unfortunately, I don't know what else I can do.

I have already tried everything: Normal GPS, Glonass, Galileo; I waited 1-2 minutes with active GPS (green light but not started); the updates are in; the watch syncs regularly and resetting doesn't help either.

Do you have any other ideas? Is it possible to deactivate the barometer measurement and only use that of the GPS?

Thank you very much!

  • Just to clarify, is it the altitude at the top, or the accumulated elevation gain that you are expecting to be 480m?

  • It is the altitude at the top. There is a house and a marker with 480m - so an official measurement. The Forerunner 245m actually showed 479m, so it is really accurate.

  • I guess there is nothing we can do. It is as it is.

When i run 1h in flat, the startpoint shows 34m. On the end of the run it shows always another value as 34m. 20m-50m, all possible.

Im sure the GPS is only used to get the startpoint height of an activity. While acitivity only the barometric sensor is used, so barometric changes from the weather applies to height...
