vivoactive 4/4s: Hydration App Miscounting Added and Subtracted Cups

Hi,

Funny things going on with Hydration tracker math today.

I've currently 4 cups, goal is 9 auto-increased to 10.

I click "+" on the watch - the count goes from 4 to 6, click "-" - the count goes down to 4. Click 1 cup, goes up from 4 to 6 again. I've reproduced it numerous times, and have video recording.

Even funnier thing happens in Connect app (Android) - it shows 4 cups in the main screen, I click to open Hydration specific dialog - that one shows 5!

So both the watch and app know the current number of cups is 5, but avoid showing this number at all cost, trying to show 4 everywhere . Counting beyond 6 is fine, it is fine with numbers 6, 7 and above.

What's up with this very simple counter?!

I have noticed this strange behavior on i-Phone. It started right before I updated to the beta firmware on 4S. It kind of just wants to go where it wants to go. Takes awhile to get it settled down. I in the US.

This has been going on for the better part of a year.

Check out the hydration widget reviews on CIQ.

I just don't see how complicated the widget logic can be for it not to count.

And there are other problems - see other posts here on this subject.

Yeah, I've stopped using it about a year ago because the sync never worked reliably.

But at least the watch itself could count numbers OK. Now when I go to 5 - the filled part of the circle at the edge of the widget advances (filling a bit more than half of the circle - which is correct, given the goal of 9), but the counter stays at 4.

Being a programmer I'm most of all puzzled by how did they manage to introduce such a bug into this simple thing.

Yes I have the same problem on a vivoactive 4 os version 6.5 and android samsung A8. The 5 does not appear on the watch but is ok in Garmin connect on the phone. In the https://connect.garmin.com/modern/daily-summary/2022-02-11/hydration it only shows 4 cups. Not the 5 cups entered. :-(

we can only guess what number is the "-" or "+", do you get a 5 if you press 2 and then 3?

For me even Garmin connect has troubles showing 5 in some places (My Day view), while it is OK with showing them in other (details of Hydration tracker):
