Calendar widget loses access to events on iOS 15.x regularly

Every now and then the calendar widget on Vivoactive 4s loses access to calendar events that should be synced from default Apple Calendar app on iOS.

Symptoms: e.g.

In the evening the calendar widget shows events of two upcoming days properly; in the morning though the list is empty. Syncing via Connect app does not fix this. Restarting watch does not help either.

The only fix that works is to Disable and Enable access of Connect app to Calendar in iOS settings (via the toggle in Connect settings) and THEN restarting the entire watch. Sync from Conenct app is not enough!

Watch has the latest firmware applied, Connect app is the latest version as well as iOS version (now 15.2.1)

Having exactly the same issue with my Venu 2 which was just updated to Beta 5.08. Using iOS 15.3. Very aggravating. Garmin please fix.

I don't have a vivo4, but this is the only thread I could find on this issue so far. I have the same issue on a fenix 6s and a new epix 2.

Exactly the same symptoms with my wife’s Venu 2s. She has 15.3 on her Iphone.

But we have no workaround. Restarted both her watch and iphone, disabled and enabled Calendar Access by GC, toggled of and on BT on the phone etc. Nothing.

First time the Calendar Access trick, which helped, but only once. Later the same sequence was not enough to get a proper sync for Calendar.

UPDATE:

We found that if the sync does not happen via GC (bluetooth), but we initiate a wifi sync from the watch, the calendar items are properly synce with a small backdraw, there is a delay of 5-15 minutes.

Maybe the whole issue is not related to Garmin, but to Apple/IOS.

I’ll try this when sync issue appear next time. Thanks for the hint. Anyway it’s quite annoying and makes the widget unusable.

Did anyone come up with a workable solution for this? My Vivoactive 4 has had this problem almost daily for months. The enable/disable/reboot fixes it, but only for a day.
