Vivoactive 4s will not stay connected with phone

I have a new watch. It connected with my phone initially but as soon as I moved away from my phone it lost the connection and it took 2 hours to reconnect it following all the recommended steps a number of times.  However, as soon as I moved away from my phone the same thing happened but now it will not reconnect at all. My phone has no problem connecting to other devices via Bluetooth. Can anyone help?

  • How far away from your phone do you get?

Bluetooth has a range of about 25 ft, maybe less if you have walls between the phone and the watch.

My VA4 seems to lose connection indoors at less distance than outside, especially if the walls are insulated. Maybe the foil on the insulation I would guess. But my watch reconnects with the phone seamlessly when back in range.

  • About 5 metres - I fully expect it to disconnect when it isn't in range but once it has lost connection it won't reconnect. I have had the watch for two days and I've probably spent 6 hours trying to connect it to my phone and failing, mostly. Thanks for your reply.

  • Maybe you are running some sort of battery saving mode on the phone that makes the Connect-app unable to discover that the watch is within range? I think the watch is supposed to connect directly to the app, and not the operating system of the phone, as many other devices do.

  • Yes, that is correct, the watch pairs with the app.

  • Thank you for trying to help - I am not running a battery saver and it will not connect to the app after I have moved away from my phone eve though it connected initially with no issues. My original question wasn't clear.
