VIVOACTIVE 4 NO SOUND

¿Did I just have spent USD 300.- on a watch that makes no sound?

Alarms only vibrate, notifications only vibrate.

Is it possible that a watch that is worth USD 300.- makes no sound?

Please someone tell me I am mistaken.

Thanks.

Marcelo

  • None of the vivoactive or venu devices play tones.  They just have vibrate.

  • Thanks. Who in his right mind makes a USD 300.- watch without sound? I still can't believe this.

  • It's a watch. Not an handy.

  • Really, that's your answer? For USD 300.- I would have liked to choose whether to have a watch to warn me with or without a beep.

  • You will find USD 10,- watches with sound, so I don't think this about cost. I think Garmin chose to not have a speaker since they assume that most Vivoactive owners don't need it. I certainly don't.

  • So you paid 300 USD and DID NOT check the specs or check what the watch even did before you bought it?

Sorry, that's just poor decision making on your part.

  • It's like spending USD 100000.- in a car without Bluetooth.

Garmin should put in big letters in the advertisement 'no sound on this watch'. Then you buy without the feeling you have been deceived.

Let's see how many watches they miss to sell in an USD 300.- watch without sound.

  • Honestly? You are telling me that if you spend USD 300.- on a watch you will bother to see if it makes a beep? Good for you.

Next time I buy a pair of shoes I will check if they are good for walking.

  • That sounds like a good idea for you to follow!

  • Garmin loves market segmentation - that’s why they have literally dozens of different watches.

The seemingly senseless omission of a basic feature from the Vivoactive line is intended to push you to buy a more expensive Forerunner watch if you want sound. But then if you buy a Forerunner 245 Music (prolly the most popular current Forerunner), you don’t get a baro (for floor counting and more accurate elevation during runs), which the Vivoactive happens to have. So you pay more to get sound and running features, but you lose the baro even though you “upgraded”.

Then of course you could spend more to get a more expensive Forerunner which has both sound and a baro.

I mean we all hate this stuff but it seems to work pretty well for Garmin. I guess time will tell if this works as a long-term strategy.
