Battery Drain Garmin Rey (Vivoactive 4s)

I was having this problem as well.  I got onto Garmin support and explained how I have charged to 100% and losing 60%-80% over night.  They had me do the reboot, I removed watch faces (I only have two watch faces installed that came on the watch) etc... It was ok for a couple of days, then started happening again.  I again contacted Garmin support.  The rep I was chatting with had me return my watch and had a refurbished watch sent to me.  It has been doing the same thing.  I don't think it was a battery issue, I think I could have kept the original as I think it is a software issue.  Is there going to be a fix for this sent out at some time?  I rely on this watch to wake me up at 4:15 AM to go swim at the Y (and not wake my husband).  I woke up one morning and it was completely dead.  I love the watch and just want a software fix for this.

Thanks

  • Hello .  Please remove the 2 watch faces that you have installed on the replacement and re-test the battery life.  I am happy to dig into this further for you to determine for sure if this is a software issue or not, but we would need those watch faces to stay off of the watch.

    Additionally:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
  • Yes, you can email me and yes you can view/access my Garmin Connect account.  The two watch faces that are on the watch are the ones that came with my Garmin Rey.  They are not a third party watch face.  One other thing I have noticed is that the quick battery drain normally happens at night when I am asleep.  Any ideas on that?

  • This is happening to me too since the update a couple of days ago.  The last 2 mornings I have woken up to a dead watch.  It's so disappointing as my watch is so new.

  • Try turning gesture waking off. Your sleep movements might be frequently turning the backlight on.

  • I turned the gesture off on the watch, and notifications. I did this several weeks ago. Sill draining at night. I have heard from Garmin and they recognize a problem and they are working on it.

If you have a vivoactive 4/4s, Rey, Darth Vader, Captain Marvel, or First Avenger watch and are experiencing a rapid battery drain, please see below:

If you have any Connect IQ (CIQ) Content installed on your watch, especially watch faces, you may need to delete that content until the independent developer is able to update their app/watch face to function correctly (without causing a battery drain) with the new firmware version on your watch.  You can use any of the 3 FAQs below to uninstall the CIQ content.

How to Uninstall Connect IQ App Content Using the Connect IQ App

How to Uninstall Connect IQ Content Using Garmin Express

How to Uninstall Connect IQ Content Using the Garmin Connect App

If you would like to submit feedback to the developer of the CIQ content, you can do so by clicking the link below and searching for the download page of the CIQ content.  In the bottom right corner of that page, you will find the option to contact the developer.

If you have removed all CIQ content and are still experiencing a rapid battery drain and you have not already reached out to your local Garmin support team, we highly recommend doing that as well:
