6.50 SW Battery Drain

Hi,

I updated my VA4 to 6.50 yesterday. Since the battery went down REALLY quick : charged the watch at 5pm, it told me this morning at 9am it has only 10% left.

I did not change any settings (no SPO2, no bluetooth or music or whatever).

Can you help ?!

Please leave a comment if you have a similar issue since 6.50 update.

Thank you

Claire

  • Same happened to me ... can this be solved please ?

  • If it is there for years? What did other people then to solve it?
    Buy an other watch?

  • EDIT : last nigth I lost 54% in my sleep (8 hours), which is 7% per hour... and without any watchface.

  • Seems like some of the watch owners got out of the issues by doing various types of restarts. Factory reset, hard restart and others.

  • What type of resets are possible.
I did reset twice on the menu of the watch with option to delete data and restore settings.

  • As someone wrote in this thread, sometimes a restart can help. It seems that it helped me - I turned the watch off and then on (it's probably called a "soft restart"). Then I charged the watch to 100%.

So far, 9 hours have passed since disconnecting the charger. After this time, the battery level is 81%, with the 9 hours including 6 hours of sleep with a pulse oximeter and 1 hour of activity on the bike. From what I remember, these are the results I achieved before the firmware update.

  • That looks normal indeed.
I restart my watch every day since the battery is at 0% all the time Slight smile
I'll try the restart and full charge.

  • Hi,

News from today : I simply restarted the watch and it seems to work. I was kind of worried that the battery was not moving and suddendly went to 0% but no.... -15% today with 30 GPS walk recorded. Hurray!

  • I’m sorry to hear of the battery drain issues that you’re experiencing.  Let’s start by power cycling (turning off and then back on) your watch.  If the battery drain persists and if you have any Connect IQ (CIQ) Content, especially watch faces, you may need to delete that content until the independent developer is able to update their app/watch face to function correctly (without causing a battery drain) with the new firmware version on your watch.  You can use any of the 3 FAQs below to uninstall the CIQ content.

How to Uninstall Connect IQ App Content Using the Connect IQ App

If you would like to submit feedback to the developer of the CIQ content, you can do so by clicking the link below and searching for the download page of the CIQ content.  In the bottom right corner of that page, you will find the option to contact the developer.

If you have not already reached out to your local Garmin support team, we highly recommend doing that as well:

  • I think most of us already did that if i read the forum topics.
Myself i tried a couple of hard resets. That way everything is reset, also the possible CIQ content.
But that does not work to have normal battery usage again.

Also tried to power my device of and on. Tried to charge it to 100% after it went down. Kept it in the power for a couple of hours after it was already on 100%.
But all this without any succes.

It is really annoying me and makes my vivoactive useless as i need to charge it every morning and evening before i leave for work.

Today it lost about 65% during my working hours. Normaly this was about 10% max.
And like an other user mentioned, i can't also no longer pair my watch with my phone. (removed everything there, bluetooth settings, connect device, ...)

This all started with update 6.40 or gps / sensor update if im correct.
