After I updated my almost brand new Vivoactive 4s to firmware version 6.30, my GPS started having issues. The problem started immediately after the 6.30 update for me (after owning the watch for a month). It did not change any settings on my watch or in Garmin Connect.
Most of the time it does not achieve GPS lock when I am standing outside. I have been waiting at least 5 minutes for several times, but the GPS connection bar only goes halfway at most.
I just started activities without GPS. Most of the time the GPS also did not activate during 30 min to 60 min runs outside. Only a single time it recorded the last third of an activity.
Syncing with Garmin Connect (Android) before an activity did not help. Also deleting Garmin Connect from my phone and installing it again did not help. Resetting my watch also did nothing.
The only thing that helps is taking my phone with me and connecting via bluetooth. It still takes a few minutes to find the GPS. The GPS connection bar actually goes to full after a few minutes, but the watch doesn't vibrate, thus not indicating that GPS lock has been achieved. When using GPS paired with my phone, it is not as accurate as before, showing me cutting through a block of buildings, when I just ran 90 degrees around the corner for example.
Is there anything I could do or check to be able to resolve the problem? Is it possible to reset the watch to an earlier firmware version for example? Or should I return my watch under the guarantee? As a runner and cyclist, the watch is not usable to me in this state.
