Vivoactive 4s 6.30 update battery drain

Ever since this update my battery dies after several hours/half a day or is totally dead after an overnight sleep. Only a year old and previously lasted 5 days or so, battery life never an issue until now. Have done a factory reset, removed any extra watch faces, disabled Pulse Ox and all the rest of the battery saving tips. Any more tips? New update please!

  • Hi,

I have the same issue. I talked to garmin customer support and I sent my previous device and they send me a new one. However, I realised the battery drain occur during the night when the device is registering my sleeping data. During a normal activity (swimming, or running or fitness sports) it consumes around 5%  which is ok. But during the night, (I disconnect wifi, bluetooth) it consumes around 28-30%.. that is insane!!. the device I sent the first time lasted only 2 days; this new one is the same, jajajaja. I am not using a watchface that requires gps or measuring HR constantly, or music, or bluetooth. I sync it with my phone in the morning or after an activity that's it. So, I hope garmin can fix this battery issue. I have seen so many people complaining about it in garmin's forum, because the battery life is not as they advertise for this watch (up to 8days!)

  • Hi - thanks for your reply. So are Garmin replacing your replacement watch again, or do they think it's a software issue? Sounds pretty annoying! My battery drain is occuring night and day. Only getting a few hours (losing 1% every minute or two). Contacted Garmin Support following your advice and waiting to hear.....

  • I don't know I contacted them again asking if it is a software problem or what ... or If they can offer  a solution. It sucks cause instead of sent it back to amazon (where I bought it) and have the money back, I sent it to Garmin hoping the problem can be fixed as I really like the device, but no... Now I am waiting for a replay. So let's see...

  • software problem 100%, drainage started after 5.80 update

  • Pretty much every update will make some Garmin watches drain the battery faster, while most watches work just fine. I still think the upgrade process itself can cause the issue, and not the version itself. My VA4S did not drain faster after 5.80.
