I have a Vivoactive 4, and have created a simple custom workout for HIIT (high intensity interval training) walking.

I have a Vivoactive 4, and have created a simple custom workout for HIIT (high intensity interval training) Walking on Garmin Connect based on Running. However it will not upload. It shows the message "not compatible".
Any suggestions as to how to get around this?

  • It's not clear to me what type of workout you have used, but if you created HIIT plan then there is no luck and you can either switch to some device like Venu 2 which has HIIT but have different display technology than Vivoactive and I prefer the latter one. Or possibly Fenix series which let you create Custom workout, but they don't have a touchscreen. no other options unless Garmin decide to add a bit more essential functionality to their watches with touch screens.

Check out what's compatible in here: support.garmin.com/.../

Almost forgot, you can ask them to add HIIT to Vivoactive 4 series https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/ I did it a while ago myself, so maybe if there would be more votes they would consider adding it

  • You can sset it up as “Run” instead of HIIT and add your segments in. That’s what I’m doing for c25k. I just alternate between “run” and “recover” (for walking portions) and it works great :) you can set it by distance or time and a few other options. Then it’ll sync to your watch just fine.

  • Thanks. I will give this a try. J
