Vivoactive 4S: intensity minutes has stopped working.

The problem is with the watch, not the phone app and not the laptop app. It was working fine until 3 days ago but now whether it's cardio, walking, circuit, running or swimming (with or without a chest-strap heart monitor) no intensity minutes are being recorded. And yes, I am getting my HR high enough and exercising long enough for it to register.

I've tried everything: hard reset, power off/on, throwing it at the wall, updating the firmware, the works. This is my second vivoactive and very likely to be my last at this rate. Any suggestions before I reduce it to kit form with a hammer?

  • Exactly the same issue for me too and I am in the verge of hammering it as well mate. I noticed that during HIIT - strength working out, 12-13 reps per set, just 1 min break per set the sensor shows only 100-110 bpm!!! That means is in warm up zone so can't be calculated as intensity minutes. What I understand is that the sensor just sucks...Can't calculate the right bpm in strength working out, with all the following consequences (intensity mins, calories etc)

  • Try Cardio app instead. That will get the heart rate reading higher.

  • Sorry but this is not an alternative. We need the Strength app in order to count sets, reps and kgs

  • Well, I think the threat of further 'percussion tuning' may have done the trick. Intensity minutes are now back. Still don't understand why and I'm still looking seriously at alternatives to Garmin that aren't Apple.
