6.10 software update drains battery

Since 6.10 update yesterday, battery drains 1% every 30 mins.

Also, a 2km 30 minute stroll was recorded as 60km over the 30 minutes giving me the impression that I'm Superman (far from it)

Garmin, please provide 6.20 update to fix these issues. Thanks.

  • The thing is that some random watch owners get crazy battery drain at every update. They will also get it from 6.20. Maybe 6.20 will be my turn, since 6.10 works perfectly for me so far....

who knows, maybe you're superhuman ;)

just try not change anything and it will eventually work for you ;) I was lucky myself with a wise battery drain until today when I woke up with watch discharged from 60 to 0% but what's interesting my watch was working perfectly on 6.10 until that and I can't say that I did something extra-ordinary aside of buying a license for Swimming App and swimming the day before and installing watchface which I removed right away and replaced with built-in one. All the rest is the same aside of weird discharge.

  • My battery melts 60%/day too, while watch is not even on my wrist.

    Since 5.80 update

  • I lost about 20% from 5 days to 4 days (1-1.2% per hour) with the “update” from 5.60 to 5.80… So far 6.10 is approx 2% an hour so pretty much another 50% loss. 4s with stock face, no pulse ox, average of 1 hour gps per day. Was great on 5.60 but now absolute crap and no change to my usage pattern. Must be Garmins way of forcing people to buy a new device !

  • Hey, I've an update about my high during the day drain, I believe that although settings for pulseOx was set for sleep time only it was running during all day as I've accidentally checked my PulseOX graph and spot that it was running through the day and that's what results in 2% per hour, what's interesting today I've got 0.7% discharge rate again...

  • Yep mine is draining real fast. Charged 10 hours ago. Already at 50% from just being on my wrist! May do a complete backup and reset and see what happens

  • I didn't reset mine, just tried to switch watcfaces and accidentally find out that they were using PulseOX during the day, maybe they though I never woke up, try to see if you have SpO2 graph inside Garmin Connect.

  • I fully charged my 4s & did reset 8 hours ago (which is a PITA), and am still on 100%. Who ever said that update 6.10 was a drain? I think it's a magical update.

  • you're  seeing 100% only because there is a glitch in battery calibration which shows same charge per several hours and then start to discharge quickly. Nonetheless I was just as lucky as you do until yesterday when I woke up with my watch turned off. So the fact that your watch is running well now doesn't guarantee that they would behave the same way further.

  • I can vouch for this ! I can fully charge before bed and wake up at 100% but once it starts to drop it’s a rapid and consistent discharge.
