Version 6.10 - Watch freezes on Activities.

Since version 6.10 the Watch keeps freezing while an activity.

After starting an activity the watch freezes after some seconds to minutes - have to hold power on for 15 seconds to reset watch. The activity started after reseting the Watch has no GPS data in Garmin Connect. No Map shows up.

Please fix it!

  • Thank you! We have this issue escalated. I am going to reach out through email, I need to get a video of the freezing happening if you do not mind.

  • I'll second this-froze twice at 24 seconds using GPS. Also froze at 24 seconds on my wife's Venu 4 at 24 seconds too.

  • I also experience the same issue.  Odd that I've only witnessed it during a run.  It hasn't happed to me (yet) swimming, cycling, or strength training.  I'm not a fan of having to wait for it to be solved either.  Why is there not an option to backdate your software version.  I also have had the watch for 11 months.  It would be nice to be able to go back to version 5.80.

  • You could try Beta 6.05.

  • This has also happened to me twice since yesterday.  Only since the update - never happened before.

  • Same here.  Has happened twice since update.  Didn't notice first time so this morning when it happened again, I reset and it seemed to work, but didn't track the GPS.

  • My Vivoactive 4s had frozen for the second time 24s into a run. The first happened straight after last software update, but I was able to restart it. This time I can't restart or get it to reset at all. Absolutely awful.

  • Yes, after reset all seems to work fine - but it has an GPS error, no Map will show up,

Why Garmin doesnt offer old 5.80 as an workaround?......

  • If you want an older firmware, Beta 6.05 is a better option.

  • Mine has recently started to do the same this week as well... first on a run and second time on a walk. Pretty bummed because the first time lost 4 miles worth of steps and second time realized about a half mile in but still lost those steps. This issue has probably secured the loss of my july step badge which is a big thing mentally for me.  I did notice this occured both times after i had charged my watch for the night, both times the first activity after charging. Not sure if this has anything to do with it or not but something i did notice. The battery also seems to have run down way faster this week than normal as well, charged it monday night and had to charge it again last night which is abnormal, i used to br able to go almost an entire week, multiple activities a day without having to charge it.
