Power consumption if brightness is at minimum

I recognized for my watch that the power consumption is much higher, when the brightness is set to minimum compared to the brightness set to some value higher than the minimum.

If the brightness is set to some value higher than the minimum I guess the watch can work for around 3 days without charging.

With no other settings changed only reducing the brightness to minimum I suddenly need to charge the watch every day.

I am wondering if you can reproduce this problem or whether it is some bug of my specific watch.

Kind regards

  • wow, that's quite counterintuitive and I'm puzzled why it's happening. I may actually try to increase the brightness for the next charge just to see if I experience the same behaviour.

  • I am not observing this, if I just reduce the brightness from let's say a medium brightness to low brightness.
Only if I set the brightness to the lowest setting, the battery is drained fast.

My guess is that the logic which is detecting when the clock shall shine up is now triggered all the time, while it normally pauses when the clock is already shining, and that this is causing the extra energy.

    But yeah.. I don't know.

Yesterday the clock made the update to version 6.10. I guess I need to try if the problem is still present.

yup, I'm quite sure if this bug exists Garmin wouldn't work on this issue if it's related to old versions only and was fixed on the newer one

  • I still have the problem. Last night the battery drained from 100% in about 10h to 10% (with brightness set to minimum).

  • what do you mean by minimum? when the backlight is turned off completely which or the settings just before that?(I'm using that minimum settings).

As just today when I woke up in night I saw that my watch tells that it has low battery and it had 60% when I get to bed or more... That never happened to me prior 6.10.

So maybe your problem coincided with upgrade to the latest version, and it just happens on any level of brightness...

  • With minimum I mean that the backlight is constantly off, indeed.
I don't know the version I had before 6.10. But I have this problem with the prior version and with the current version (6.10).
