Change History

Changes made from version 6.03 to 6.05:

  • Fixed an issue where pulse ox could be set to all day after syncing

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your vivoactive 4 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip vivoactive4_605Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file into the \GARMIN directory of the device.
  3. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  4. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE_580.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE_580.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • I can also confirm that I am on day 4 of using the watch, with 53% battery left. This version improved standby battery life by a lot.

  • Now after a few days of testing and one discharge cycle the discarge rate looks very very satisfying now: At around 16%.

wow, now that's impressive especially considering you and have 4s.

Woody, do you have that discharge rate with no workouts too and what about notifications I think you had them turned off during the day?

As for auto activity, I had it turned off for a while but now consider turning off MoveIQ as well just for the sake of experiment.

  • In this discharge rate was one 30 minute running workout (including gps) and a 4 hours outside walk (which was only tracked as a moveiq-event).

Notifications are on all the time.

MoveIQ is still active. I am assuming that the watch is going to start recording workouts each time a possible auto activity start is recognized and this is what is eating up the battery. But i'll see, this was just the first discharge ciycle.

  • I also have this autodetect for workouts disabled. I ride a motorcyle to work and somehow Garmin thinks I can peddle a bicycle at 120km/h :p
It still amazes me it detects i'm on 2 wheels, just not the correct 2 wheels.

  • And as an addition for the next release there will not only be golf, also rocket-flight-autodetection for somewhat richer people included. Smiley Airplane departure

peddling a bike 120km/h and you say to us that you have no workouts? Slight smile I wonder if you tried to let them know of this bug, possibly they would fix it?

I guess you have MoveIQ disabled as well? as otherwise you should see cycling events on your heartrate graph still.

haha, yeah right, what else, will they close Fenix series in favor of Vivoactive and include all the bells and whistles into that dream firmware?:)
