Vivoactive 4s battery stuck on 100% after charging.

Hi! I just bought a brand new Vivoactive 4s, and after my second battery charge the battery is stuck at showing 100%. To fix it, I have tried restarting it, plugging to the charger again for a moment, but nothing worked. The only thing that helped the issue was resetting the watch, and that works (the battery then jums to showing the correct percentage on the screen and shows the battery usage normally) until it's time to charge it again.

I have read in the forums that the battery can show 100% up to 24 hours (due to some overcharging issue, I have not yet tried this approach), but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same and whether this is a bug that would be fixed?

Otherwise I am very happy with the watch, so I hope that I wouldn't have to return it!

  • Try to wait 24h to check if battery goes down before resetting again. lol.

  • no need to reset anything, depending on your discharge rate it will start discharging after 10 hours or so, or you can just wait a few hours and do the reboot. Myself I usually wait 2-3 hours and get the correct percentage level which is higher by 5-10% on average. Not very convenient but that's what we have right now

  • Hitting "Find my device" from Garmin Connect app seems to reset this issue quite instantly.

Apparently, this is common across many Garmin devices and appears to be a software glitch. And it's been going on for years now and highly doubt Garmin has a fix in mind for now.

They might be limited by the kind of charging chipset they use.

  • in fact, I'm using Fenix 6 Pro, and it doesn't seem to have that issue, or it's pretty mild in there and the battery meter seems to act correctly.
As for Vivoactive 4 this problem seems to be less prominent.
