Heart rate broadcast not working with BT heart rate strap

Today i tried with my vivoactive 4 what is working perfectly with my fenix 6: Broadcasting the heart rate to another device when using my BT heart rate strap.

I could connect the other device to the vivoactive 4 but the heart rate was not shown (stayed always at 0).

So i tried to broadcast without the hr strap, only using the internal optical sensor - this worked perfectly.
But at the moment when i switched over to the heart rate strap the heart rate was no longer transmitted (the vivoactive still shows the correct heart rate, the data is just not broadcasted, also does the other device not loose the connection).

Is this a known problem?

currently i am using the beta 6.02, and i don't want to revert to 5.80 just to test this out. Is there anybody who can confirm that this is also not working on the 5.80?

  • I did this a few days ago when my Edge was temporarily not picking up my HRM strap, but the VA4 was. Turned on broadcast and Edge got HR from VA4, which was receiving from HRM strap. Using 5.80 FW

  • Are you using a BT or ANT+ HRM strap?

(I've tested it with a Polar H7 (BT only) and a Polar H10 connected via ANT+. In both cases it did not work, so it seems to be the beta. Would be interesting to see if others could reproduce the problem when using the beta.

  • Ant+ (garmin strap). I would have thought that BT should also work because the VA4 should receive from the HRM strap and then rebroadcast (Ant+?) to another device, but I don't have a BT HRM strap to test that this works as well for my setup.
