Vivoactive 4 battery permanently died from battery brain

Hey Garmin Community,

My VA 4s has been suffering from progressively worse battery drain after each successive firmware update too. The battery drain when from .8% -> 2.8% -> 3.8% -> 2.8%. However in my case, last night when watch died it wouldn't turn back on after recharging. When I plug in the watch to charge nothing appears, no charging indicator, just a black screen.

I've only had the watch since last year, so its not a super old battery to begin with. Any ideas?

Hello! I am sorry this has happened. Are you charging through the wall or computer? If the wall, can you clean the contacts with rubbing alcohol then plug it into the computer. If this does not work, can you unplug/plug a few times. If the device is still not coming on, the device will likely need to be exchanged.

Hey AmberD, I was able to get the device to charge after cleaning the contacts! However, now the sensors on the watch aren't working. I don't get any HR reading, cadence, etc.

Is it fully charged yet? Once it is, can you reset the device to factory settings?
