Bug with step counting?

I've just had an odd error occur following a morning walk. I do the same morning walk every day and clock up approximately 4k steps, but I record it as two separate activities - I walk one way, stop for a coffee, then walk home. Today, the first half of the walk recorded fine - just over 2k steps - but the second half hasn't registered steps at all. I recorded the activity with the GPS and that's all there, but no steps to match.

Even walking around now, it's not adding any steps. It's just stuck on the number from my coffee break. The only thing I can think of is that it's taking the number from the Connect app and overriding the number that the smartwatch should have?

Hope this gets fixed soon because it's super demotivational. The ability to add manual steps for known walks would also be super helpful, that's pretty much the only thing I've missed since switching over from Fitbit.

  • Probably your watch software crashed.

Do a soft reset of your watch (hold upper button for around 45 seconds, ignoring any messages until watch turns off, than turn back on), that might help. If you sync with Garmin connect before you do this no data will be lost.
