Pool swim mode - issue with watch switching to intervals instead of tracking laps whilst I'm swimming

My watch kept switching to 'interval' mode whilst I was in the middle of a pool swim today. It then timed the interval and didn't pick up the laps I was swimming at all. I tried this several times (in the same way I always do) and it only started working on the fifth attempt. Any ideas on how to resolve this or does it just sound like my watch is faulty?

same problem here, auto rest not working properly, turning on pause between each lap

No response received. It hasn’t happened again since so I’m hoping it was a one off. I reset the watch back to factory settings though, which may have cleared it.

do you still using auto pause?

does it pausing right way now?

NO I DO NOT USE ANY AUTO PAUSING
