Unable to send custom workout to the Vivoactive 4?

I've created a custom workout and it appears in the calendar in the app, but it won't sync to the device even when you connect to the computer and Garmin Express?

The user manual suggests this is a Vivoactive feature.

Am I missing something obvious?

Hi,

maybe you used a not supported workout. Vivoactive 4 does not support all workout types...

It may be a current software issue. I have strength and running workouts that I previously synced to my Vivoactive 4. After the 5.80 update I can no longer send workouts to the watch. I have tried both the Connect app and Garmin Express but neither now work for me.

Maybe you have downloaded too many workouts, and need to delete some old ones first.

I have 9 in total (3 run and 6 strength) which is less than the maximum. I am also not trying to add a new one, just update an existing one. And that's no longer working.
