Can the Driving activity from the Garmin app be used on the Vivoactive 4?

I love to use my vivoactive 4 to track my drives, but what is the best way to do this? Currently I just select Cycling (outdoor), and then when I'm done I go into the Garmin Connect app and change its activity type from Cycling to Driving and remove the calories.

Is there a better way? Can you not just create a driving activity directly on the watch without having to reclassify it as driving afterwards through the app?

  • I have noticed that there is a motorsport app in IQ store, but I have never tried it, since it is not free.

  • It looks like the best way is to create a new "Other" activity on the watch, so that it doesn't look like a cycling activity and doesn't autofill with fake calorie count. This seems to work well. The only downside is--like other activities--you can't rename it to a custom name or change the icon. But this will work.

This is correct.  For reference purposes, here are the linked instructions:

  • Thank you. I came across one little issue that may be a bug. On this new "Other" activity I created, when I edit the data fields, there is no Vertical Speed field available. On the other activity types, Vertical Speed can be added from the Speed category.

This could be intentional, but seems more like an oversight.

  • Thank you for your feedback .  I can submit a feature request for that.
