Connect app doesn't connect to my vivoactive 4 anymore.

My phone (OnePlus 6T ) and watch used to stay connected. That way I was able to receive a notification on my watch whenever I was called. However since 6/7 months, it doesn't connect consistently anymore. Now it even won't connect entirely anymore.. My watch says it's searching my phone but the connect app says it's not connected. I have tried the troubleshooting a million times but it seems I now have to remove the device from the app and reconnect it every 2 days.

I am incredibly happy with my watch but if Garmin isn't offering me a fix I have to return it I am afraid...

Does anybody know what I can do to fix this issue?

  • Is it completely disconnected now and not connecting back at all? Or is it pairing and unpairing consistently?

  • It is completely disconnected

The watch says its searching for the phone, yet if I open the connect app at the same time, it says it can't find it. My phone is able to connect and stay connected to other devices.

Is this fixable, or should I return the watch and have it looked at?

  • By the way, if I finish and upload an activity, it does connect to my phone instantly and it updates all data concerning heart rate/steps/etc. in the connect app. Yet it will not stay connected so I am not able to receive phone calls/ messages.

  • What Bluetooth version is your phone? Can you try these steps? Plug the device into the computer and sync with Garmin Express. Unplug the device and reset your watch to defaults (starting the watch from new)

    • Open the Garmin Connect Mobile app,
    • Select the 3 BARS at the top left corner, then tap Garmin devices
    • Tap on the device name
    • Tap the 3 dots on the upper right-hand corner and select remove.
    • Open the Android phone settings
    • Look for app/application manager and select it
    • Tap on connect > storage > clear cache.
    • Power Phone completely down and then turn it back on
    • While phone is turning on, please put the device in pair mode by going to the settings on the watch then phone, Bluetooth pair smart phone
    • Open the Garmin Connect mobile app and add device
  • I have followed your steps and re-connected it. For now it works but I am afraid that it will disconnect after a few days again. If this happens I will contact you again.

Thanks a lot for you swift replies and kind help. Let's hope it works!

  • No worries, keep me updated!

  • Sooo, my watch decided not to connect to my phone anymore once again. I honestly don't know what else to do then to return the watch. I am getting a bit sick of uninstalling the app and installing it again every 10 days...

If you have any other suggestions please let me know..

  • Hi, is there any update to this problem? I have the same problem with my device. After the update it wont connect ty my phone anymore, even if i try to pair it. Disappointed

  • You should not have to be uninstalling the app from the phone. I would restore the watch to defaults be sure everything is up to date. If it's continuing we need to look into possible warranty options.
