Vivoactive 4 won’t charge

I am on my 4th Vivoactive 4s - after 6-12 months of usage they don’t charge and I have got them replaced on warranty. This time I tried pressing top button before plugging into USB of computer and holding for 30 seconds as per suggestion on this site and this doesn’t work.

watch is still in warranty and I like the watch when it operates but my patience is running out especially as each time I get it replaced at JB Hifi I pay another $35 for extended warranty......I just want the watch to last for 5-10 years or more of operation.....,any suggestions?

  • Hello! Are you using the same cable with every device you have exchanged? Have you exchanged the cable? Are you charging through the computer or a wall adapter? If an adapter, have you tried changing the adapter?

  • Same! I bought mine Jan last year and the cable connection between watch and cable has become increasingly wobbly to the point now where I need to hold it just so on an angle and then watch it infuriatingly tip on and off charging (vibrating each time).  More often than not I come back and it's on lower charge than when I left it.  So disappointed - it's a really great watch otherwise.

Hi AmberD from Garmin- after trying all these alternatives of connecting to computer holding top button for 30 seconds , changing lead and wall adapter , i took watch into store where I bought and they tried on their charging cord - they could not get watch to charge.

They have offered my money back or a replacement.....given constant faults with several watches what is Garmin going to do- is there a fix or will you take this off the market? It seems the product is well below your normal standards for quality electronic items.

    please advise.

Most people don't have a problem charging their watch.

    Mine charges fine.

  • Are you by chance cleaning the back of the watch with rubbing alcohol to make sure nothing is on the contacts same with the charging contacts? This is not something I have seen before.

I have now tried cleaning back contacts and cable contact with rubbing alcohol and there is still no charge possible on the watch.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Unfortunately, I do not have any other suggestions. You have done all the right trouble shooting and I am stumped as this is not a common issue.

  • Hi i have got the same issue and don't know what to do now!
