Vivoactive 4 buy now or wait for Vivoactive 5?

Hi,

I have sold my Samsung Galaxy watch 3 solely due to the battery life. I'm planning to go for a Garmin Vivoactive 4. Was planning on one of the Fenix Series but dropped it due to budget limitations.

Should I wait for the Vivoactive 5 or go with the 4 now ? Im not a pro athlete but mainly track my gym activities and sleep. Also need god battery life and a big dial as I am big :) any other options suggested ?

Thanks

Sunny

  • The Garmin Vivoactive was Garmin's smartwatch until the arrival of the Venu.
In 2015, Garmin introduced the Vivoactive as a square, feature-rich option to its lineup. We were great admirers of the original Vivoactive and all of its subsequent revisions.

  • Anyone who knows if there will be a Vivoactive 5 released? When?

  • I think is fair to believe at this point in time that garmin will not be releasing any new vivoactive sport/smart watches anymore in favor of releasing new venu "smart" watches.

And its a shame because I love the trasflective display as it's an always on screen that does mot drain the battery in a couple of hours.

And really the only way to show that us consumers want a vivoactive 5 is to not buy the venu... But most people will still buy it anyway.

  • I agree.

If only they would test the firmware/app/widget changes before forcing them onto the watch we could have a stable good working device. It's a shame that they seem to be unable to do that.

  • That would be sad, Vivoactive has a great potential, if Garmin would choose to add some options to it such as training metrics and few features from more advanced watches, it would be bestseler.

  • Any news if will there be Vivosmart 5? Buying watch for wife and if there will be 5 soon i will wiat, otherwise Huawei GT runner it is.

  • I don't think there will be a Vivoactive 5, and it could be a good time to buy Vivoactive 4. Maybe there will never be a watch like this again. Low price, slim design, touch screen, MIP display, Wifi, Garmin Pay, Music, and lots of features.

  • But the new Forerunner 255 looks promising. No touch screen, but it has a lot of the features we have been missing on the VA4.

  • true, if I would be choosing a watch now, I'd probably go with it. And possibly in the next iteration they can add touchscreen to it too. Maybe they are finally trying to minimize the amount of models they have.

  • You can get for free the dynamic watch app from IQ store and Wolla! Now you have course support. For a small fee you can even see map background just like fenix models, if not better. In my opinion pricing should always be related to hardware (sensors, battery, screen type, solar) and not software related. If Garmin chooses to sell identical hardware but $$$ different just because of software enhancements I definitely will not support them and look for free open source or private small fee offers like the IQ store
