Spotify fails to sync and can't download playlists onto my watch.

Every time I try to download a playlist I get a failed to sync notification. This is becoming a hassle for a device that advertises to be simple to get things connected and downloaded.

I have tried the following resolutions with no results.

  1. Reset the device
  2. Remove all network connections and uninstall spotify
  3. I re-connected and downloaded Spotify again (still no luck)
  4. Had it close to my router and plugged into a power source.
  5. The wifi was successfully connected.

May I please have a support case opened?

Hello! So sorry the watch isn't allowing you to sync properly! A few questions to verify, When you say removed all network connections, do you mean you limited the Wi-Fi usage with other devices on the network? If not, can we please have you try this? Also, for resetting the device? Did you perform a factory reset on the device?

  • I moved the watch to both 2.4ghz and 5ghz network bands. I also prioritize the watch on the network. My network is sound and have no shortage of bandwidth.

I did perform a factory reset on the watch. It is failing to sync properly with the spotify app.

  • Okay can I have you test the Wi-Fi by following the instructions in this link below where it says "Testing the Wi-Fi Connection". Also, are you in the US or Canada?

  • I'm having the same problem with my Venu, I've tried everything for over a month, and still can't get a single song loaded into my watch. Is there any way I can get some support?

Hello! What kind of error message do you see? Does an error number pop up?

  • Hi Isabella, thanks for getting in touch.

Nope, no error number, I just try to sync a playlist with 1 single song, and it says "finding wi-fi networks" for a few minutes, then says "unable to download certificates". It doesn't even start the download.

Also, prior to doing this, I tested the wi-fi connection from my garmin connect app and it was working fine

Okay, can I have you try to completely uninstall the Spotify app from your watch and perform a hard rest on the watch. (Press and hold the top right button until the screen goes blank, ignore anything that pops up (power off or assistance), let it sit off for a minute and then turn it back on) Once you turn back on the watch, can we redownload the Spotify app on your watch and see if it lets you sync a playlist?

  • Hi,

same here, on a Fenix 6X Pro Solar. Really annoying. Yet another bug with Garmin software. Not acceptable, for a watch the cost of a high-end smartphone

  • How do you know it is a software bug? It works just fine on my Vivoactive 4S, and probably for most other Garmin watch owners.

  • Hi! Some trouble shooting steps should get this up and running for you, if you are experiencing issues. Have you posted in the Fenix forum yet? If not, I am happy to try to get you up and running to use Spotify if you can tell me the issues you are seeing. Please let me know!
