Garmin coach - half marathon time goal

I've already done a 10k, but when I select a plan for the half marathon the garmin coach is suggesting me to run first a 10k... Still, it doesn't allow me to select a time goal but only a "complete" goal. In the past, I had started a time goal plan for a half marathon but I couldn't finish it. Now it seems that garmin coach has forgot what I've done or maybe it is because the last plan was some months ago. Anyway, it should care because it doesn't know if I was running without recording the activities... So now I've to continue to train with a "complete" goal, quite annoying.

Hello! It looks like in the beginning, if you select your weekly mileage is under 5, no matter what pace, it will prompt you to try for the 10k first with the only option being a completion goal. If your weekly mileage is above that, it will then allow you to select "Run with a time goal".

  • Hi! thanks for the reply Slight smile At the beginning, I selected a weekly average of more than 10k per week, but in the case I could be wrong, now it is two weeks that I've started and I'm above 15 k per week but it doesn't allow me to edit the goal for "run with a time goal", shall I wait longer?

You may have to set up a new one to be able to have it set up for "run with a time goal". Would you be able to test to see if this option pops up for you if you select the 6-10 mile distance or more options?

  • I understand, but if I try to set up a new training I will have do delete the one that is ongoing, so I would like to avoid ti restart from the beginning. Is there any other option? Thanks for the support

Unfortunately we cannot edit a plan midway for that because the plan is adaptive and that would change the entire course of the plan.
