Why does my downloaded Amazon music on my vivoactive 4 need updating every month?

Why does my downloaded Amazon music on my vivoactive 4 need updating every month? Its really frustrating as it takes ages and the syncing process takes absolutely ages and always fails at some points and has to start again. Last time I ended up having to delete my playlists off the watch and then redownload them, which also took an age but seemed quicker than the syncing process. Seems like a completely flawed system!

  • ...happens on my 645 music also.....so frustrating...have jotted about this several times with no answer...

    Just WHAT is the answer????

  • My guess is that it might have something to do on Amazon’s end. This is totally a guess, but since streaming music isn’t owned (unlike the old days when you would actually buy an album on iTunes), Amazon may want more control over it. So since you only stream it (and don’t own it) Amazon may be requiring it to be refreshed since it isn’t residing within their app and month to month some albums may no longer be available to download. With streaming on Amazon, I’ve noticed that albums can come and go (I just use the music that comes with Prime membership). Again this is all a total guess on my part. I just ordered the Vivoactive 4 today (Prime Day Deal) and plan to use Amazon Music with it so I’ll update this in a month after using it for a while.

  • I can just echo what Jon612d told, that totally makes sense to let it play for month and check whenever your memebership expired or some albums become unavailable

  • Mine just updated today and I have had my watch for a month. i use Spotify, so am assuming it works the same as Amazon. They are checking your membership and such. There, now you have my two cents worth even if you didn't want it.

  • I’m having this problem today but don’t know how to update, can someone explain it to me please

  • First, make sure that your watch is connected to Bluetooth and that your Garmin Connect mobile app is open and running on your phone.  Then, on your watch:

Menu > Settings > Music > Music Providers > Amazon Music > Sync

  • Thanks I managed to sort it
