Sync failed when updating Spotify podcasts

I am trying to sync my Garmin Vivo Active 4s with Spotify on my Pixel 4 XL. The phone and watch are connected via BT. Each time I try to "update podcasts" on my watch, it will start to update, then say "sync failed". This is driving me nuts. After ~45 mins of playing around (restarting both devices, trying multiple times, wiping old podcasts, etc) I was finally able to get 1 podcast to download. This can't be a real thing I have to go through daily. Any tips or advice on how to resolve the issue? Watch and phone software are both up to date.

    Hello! Are you able to download a playlist without any issue? Is it only the podcasts that are not able to download?
